Im Hintergrund die Cestius-Pyramide, dahinter die Porta San Paolo. Zwei in Schwarz gekleidete Damen und ein Herr besuchen den Friedhof. Der Einfall der tiefstehenden Sonne und der Schatten der Zypressen verleihen der Gräberlandschaft eine elegische Stimmung.
